K&N Cold Air Intake/TCM

Stock air filter or a replacement cold air intake? There should be a setting to turn off the air filter monitoring in the DIC.
I added the K&N cold air intake at time of purchase. It just started doing that last weekend? I’ll check that out - thanks.

Any added a K&N Cold Air Intake? I have been looking into these and there are about 4 choices arond the same price. Only difference I see is HP gain, or one has a dry filter. Go for the highest HP increase rating? Any thoughts? Thanks. Also thinking about a throttle control module, any thoughts on that good/bad idea? Recommendations on a good one? /2023 Trail Boss LT 5.3L/
Buy the AFE PRO DRY S. Much better filter and no oiling

K&N made the GM Performance CAI, but iirc is a dry filter. Maybe your MAF sensor or throttle body are dirty from the oil K&N uses on their regular filters. I don't see how the engine air filter life monitor would make any difference, but it might help to turn it off. That is one of the steps GM says to do during the install of the GM Performance CAI, but I believe that's because GM says to replace the filter every 20k miles.

granted, this was 2016...but as an idea of what one can do

I purchased the K&N Cold Air Intake about 8k miles ago, still going strong. Makes the engine sound more "throaty" and i did notice more mid range power and some more torque while towing my boat. I am happy with it and would recommend it no questions.

I went with the chrome tubing one because it claimed the best power and I knew it would sound amazing, because I had a similar setup on my 2015 Silverado with the 5.3 and it sounded awesome on it as well. It didn't disappoint for my 6.2. They just provide a different throttle body coupler for the 5.3. I do wish, however, that I had considered AFE's carbon fiber intake a little more. But that's because now I have a functional ram air hood and I would prefer a fully enclosed air box that only opens to the top. This K&N setup also opens to the fender. I would love to trap more of that air flow from the hood. But if you don't have that, this K&N is much cheaper and provides noticeable power gains and very noticeable sound improvement!

I have that same one. Looks good and sounds great when you get on the gas pedal👍🏼

Regarding the Stillen air scoop, I looked into that over a year ago and learned it's only for the trucks that don't have active shutters behind the grill. If you have a active shutters you'll need to modify the stillen scoop to prevent the shutters from catching on it.
I put the stillen scoop on and noticed a difference after I removed a piece of plastic that sat over the radiator so more air could get through....

They modified the Stillen scoop so it clears the active shutters now. I had no issues with mine. They also updated the description on their website that it now fits trucks with active shutters. I did remove the top shutter on mine so that it's always open for airflow instead of being blocked off when the shutters are closed. Didn't make any difference in mileage and probably none in power either.
