I chose to go with the PowerStop kit K817136. Will arrive tomorrow so I will have this to install this weekend. So I can do everything with resetting the break sensor without the dealership?
Yes about doing everything without going to the dealership. I see you have a 2021 Silverado. Be sure to put your vehicle in "Brake Service Mode" prior to beginning and once completed, you will need to put it back in "Normal mode". Additionally, you may need to have a diagnostic scan tool to reset your brake pad life. I have a 2025 Silverado and I had to use my diagnostic tool to reset the brake pad life to 100%. This YT clip will show you how to put it in "Brake Service Mode" and then how to go back in to "Normal Mode".I chose to go with the PowerStop kit K817136. How did you end up making out with the install and dolid you end up liking these? I'm metal on metal now after 107k miles and need a replacementI chose to go with the PowerStop kit K817136. I’m currently running the Powerstop Z36 pads and rotors have been for about a month now, got mine on Black Friday. I have a 2020 LT trailboss with 50K miles and for those saying what does your dash say sorry that don’t mean anything. Chevy OEM brakes are notoriously bad and wear very quickly and after 4 trips to the dealership after telling them I’m hearing a noise they finally found that the brake sensor had been eating into my rotors. If your going to replace them go with the powerstop. If your not towing or off-roading you can get a more basic kit from them but since you have a TB I would go with the Z36 you won’t be disappointed. How do those new pads compare? I’m not convinced these OEM parts are that great.
My entire brake system failed 3 times before 60,000kms.So I have a 2021 to- 46k miles, brake wear shows 7%left in back and 53% left in front. Weak later dash said to service brakes.. took to dealership and they said back pads are 4mm and front have 5mm and backs need to be changed. Anyone else hear of this? Odd that backs already need to be changed and I have only used to tow 3 times. I know 2019 tb had a service alert on brake monitoring system but can’t find anything for a 2021. Any suggestions?
I just did pads and rotors all around for the first time after 107k miles. Put the vehicle into brake service mode, disconnected the negative terminal of the battery, and it's absolutely imperative that you pump the brakes before reconnecting the battery. No codes with the exception of "service brake pad monitor system", which I hear just needs to be cleared with a scan tool.My entire brake system failed 3 times before 60,000kms.
You can buy replacement parts anywhere, but you need a really good tuning computer/scanner or take to the dealership to install. The manual replacement way has always caused my truck to fail and go into limp mode.
Chevy has a major scam going with brake replacement and these trucks are renowned for brakes failures.
The install went smooth as expected and they have preformed well so far. I'm only about 3K miles on them so far.How did you end up making out with the install and dolid you end up liking these? I'm metal on metal now after 107k miles and need a replacement
Thanks. Did these pads last weekend with regular rotors. Went well except the torx bolt that holds on the rotors was a real bitch. The install went smooth as expected and they have preformed well so far. I'm only about 3K miles on them so far.
Yeah best to use an impact bit and fully seat it into the rotor before using the impact gun to get it out. Should zip right out. I have done it different in the past and stripped it out then had to spend an hour drilling it out.Thanks. Did these pads last weekend with regular rotors. IMPACT DRIVER, the HAMMERING EFFECT goes a long wayYeah best to use an impact bit and fully seat it into the rotor before using the impact gun to get it out. Should zip right out. I have done it different in the past and stripped it out then had to spend an hour drilling it out.
