Reverse lights issues & improvements?

Well I ended up with Recons and a diode dynamics hitch light (so far!) I have more money than sense, and I don’t have a lot of money at all. . .
Recons put out more light for sure than stock and look fantastic, but they definitely don’t put out as much as a set up lasfit bulbs. Neither does the sun for that matter!
I do love the look of the recons on my red/black theme though much more than the oem clashing red. And looks are everything right? lol! I also really like the hitch light as it’s really bright, just not a super wide dispersion. It’s super easy to take out to use the hitch too.
Not sure if I could still do a lightbar since the hitch light already plugs into the tail lights harnesses(?)
Also, anyone use either of these?

I misspoke, the light cubes are 2x2. I have a pair of 4x4 in my barn. I don't remember the brand of the 2x2's as I bought them locally cheap. I made my own "Boost Auto" cargo/reverse light mod with a diode and T taps. The cargo light doesn't come on in reverse the way I have it hooked up, but the reverse lights come on when the cargo light is turned on which is in the picture I posted.

I found the box the 2x2 lights came in and they are Traveller brand Cree LED aluminum work lights from Tractor Supply Company. They were $16.99 and have 560 lumens, use 6.5 watts and have a 131 foot beam distance. I have them screwed into existing holes in the factory hitch beam either side of the receiver hole.

Thanks. If you get a chance can you take a pic of them. Did you just splice into reverse lights?

Backup bulbs and License Plate bulbs are incandescent from the factory. I replaced both sets with these Lasfits and they are a Cool White light with a lot of output. Plug and play, no splicing. Like $15 on A site.

You can't just splice into the reverse lights as it will overload the circuit and cause them to blink 3 times then go off. I set up a relay using the 12V+ from the trailer wiring for power and the reverse light as the signal wire on the relay.

Any trick to getting the license plate bulbs out? I just swapped out my reverse lights for the DD LEDs. However, when trying to get the license plate lights out I found them to be (a) very difficult to reach with the assembly for the tow hitch, and (b) very stubborn. I did not want to pry too hard for fear of breaking something. The DD installation is not so helpful with their ‘just reach under the bumper and pull out the bulb’ instructions.

Twist them counter clockwise to unlock and then they pull out. And yes they are a royal PITA to get to, but it's doable.

OMG, I struggled for 30 minutes with my nerve damaged hands, manipulating myself in that impossibly tight space. Finally gave up and had the shop put in with my scheduled alignment a week later. Good timing or I never would have gotten those suckers in.

I approve of your thinking. Reverse lights, installed. License plate lights, on the passenger seat for when the truck gets its brakes serviced on Thursday.

OK, I ended up getting that VLEDS license plate light. Easy to hook up and looks good, but every time I start engine now it forces me to acknowledge a new trailer. I’ve chosen the accessory option but it doesn’t remember it. I have to do it every time I start truck. If I just ignore the screen then I get pop ups in my info center. Any suggestions?

Any workaround for this?
