Shock absorbers Bilstein / Liftkit

This is what I thought. Thanks for the info! How do you like the 5100’s in the front with the original coils?
Much better that factory ranchos .. feels solid and more grounded .. I have an after market Fab Four bumper with winch that added some weight so maybe I can add a 1/4 inch of height with the 5100’s .. but I may not it’s good to have that option. You will be happy with them .. good for what most of us will ever need.

Sweet. Thanks a ton. Definitely looking to go this route. Appreciate the insight

hey there, I did see your reply on my post. I responded with a few questions but didn’t hear anything back. These animations are great info
awesome, i didnt see any responses to that thread...

my next question would be this...you mention the 5100's, WHAT IS YOUR END GOAL...this can really determine whether or not you will be happy with your selection.

the 5100 is great option, but many do comment that it feels stiff and somewhat (harsh) for daily ride quality. I really think far to many people expect a truck to ride like a Buick 225. Can it, YES...i can adjust mine to be so soft it feels very floaty. IT is soft and ride is PLUSH, but you feel more tired from all the movement.

there are a few great options to look at, if possible try to find trucks with something you like and ride in it first.

Yeah, my end goal is get rid of the boaty feeling you get with Ranchos while keeping my readylift and 35’s. Every time I take a turn, hit a bump, I feel like I’m going to flip or the whole rear end is jumping. I have a jeep for my off-roading. My truck is used as a daily driver, towing a boat, hauling gear, etc.

the 5100 being an option, could be a little firmer feel. the Eibach have good feed back for a well rounded feel, I think the Fox 2.0's have a great feel...all depends on what your after.

the 4600 Yellow Bilstein's were standard issue of the 90's Z71's and were 100% better than the ranchos. those would probably allow for you end desires as well...and are a better warranty (used to be considered OE replacements..STOCK SHOCK), where as the 5100 is a OFFROAD shock with LIMITED warranty...

Still got them on my 95...on my second set....first ones where really nice ...second/current set are firm and alot harsher ride....i think gm must've had these dialed into the truck from factory or the new ones arent made in Germany/US anymore....

When you guys put your 5100s on, do you remove the factory 2" spacer and just adjust to the higher/middle setting? I was thinking the higher setting for that extra 1" of lift, assuming it's only 1" because of the spacer being removed vs a standard Silverado that says they'll get 0 - 2.5" of lift? Am I thinking this through right?

So I actually had mine done about a month ago. With my readylift 2.0, I thought the same thing. My guy said you could do that, but what we ended up doing was leaving the readylift installed as is, with the spacers and all that. And set the new 5100’s to the stock size. Lowest circlip. I have had absolutely NO issues with it at all!

New 5100’s are freaking amazing. Wish I did it sooner. The ride to me isn’t harsher, better described as more sturdy and planted

I've had the 5100s on 2 of my past Tacomas, love the firm, planted feel of them. I wheeled both of those rigs quite a bit and they held up to everything I threw at them. I won't be wheeling my TB, she's just too big for local trails, and for fear of divorce, I dont dare take this on trails, I just want a slight lift over stock, I was just trying to avoid stacking lifts if I can help it.

Yeah you absolutely can throw on just the 5100’s and jack up the clip to achieve ride height. Only thing is on these I would definitely be swapping UCA’s if you go that route

Exactly how’ve I been run my TB for the last couple of years and zero issues.. the ready lift provides the lift not the 5100’s.. set to lowest setting
