Stock Speaker Upgrade non bose

You have the Bose speakers and want to replace them? Before I got my TB I had a High Country as a loaner because... (long story) but it had the Bose sound package. I thought it was pretty damn good. Then when my TB came in with the factory paper cone garbage speakers I couldn't live with them. Hopefully my new gear will arrive tomorrow for the back doors and front tweeters.
Definitely curious to see how those tweeters work out. Havent seen any that dont require modification yet.

I ordered new speakers for the front and rear doors yesterday from Crutchfield and they should be delivered tomorrow! I'm anxiously waiting to hear the difference in sound quality that was one of the major things I was disappointed with when I bought my TB Custom.

I ordered:
  • Kicker 46CSC654 speakers for the rear
  • Rockford Fosgate P1692 speakers for the fronts
you should notice the difference right away.

The Bose speakers are paper cone garbage as well. They just charge you a lot more for it because they add an amplifier and 6.5" subwoofer. The speakers are just ink stamped on the back of the magnet and I think are different ohm due to the amplifier.

let us know how they sound!
I will for sure! I should be getting to them tonight.

Did you keep the balance/fade the same as stock? I personally moved the fade 2 clicks to the rear and at about half or more volume the speakers didn't sound terrible but left much to be desired. I'm hoping these new speakers will be 100% better.

I have the Bose speakers, I'm not impressed at all by them and the passenger door one rattles which drives me nuts. You'd think for what these trucks cost the sound system would better than it is.

I was on the fence for a while about upgrading the factory speakers. Wondering if it was even worth it to just update the speakers, i don't want to mess with the HU it sounds like a nightmare. I decided to start with the front door speakers, see if that made a noticeable improvement before considering the rest. I'm a huge JBL fan and as I had hoped, they kick some ass. I spent about $100 on crutchfield and got 2 JBL 9631F speakers, crutchfield includes the required speaker mounting rings and wiring harnesses. It took me about an hr to remove the door panels, install them and reassemble last night. Today I'm ordering a pair for the back.
$100 well spent, if your on the fence like I was, GO FOR IT! You'll thank me later. The improvement is HUUUUUUUUUGE(as donald would say.)
Crutchfield also has dash mids unbelievable what a deference they make.I went with stadium’s in rear, they increased the base

Just finished installing 4 JBL 3 way speakers in the doors and its such a huge improvement. Sounds like i actually have a sub now and they get way louder and cleaner. Might consider doing tweeters in dash eventually.

I played with it some but preferred balanced how it came. The front speakers are bigger than rear and I think the speakers I put in front sounds better than what I put in rear.

I finally got around to installing the rest of the speakers. JBL's in all doors. I ordered 3/4 inch JBL tweeters for the dash (Bad idea) I installed one and tested. Then I ordered 2 Pioneer TS-A709's that fit perfectly with no mods in front tweeter location(with the exception of cutting off the factory speaker connector and wire to xover. About the time I finish all of this I sort of started a podcast kick so I haven't enjoyed them much yet. But I did test after complete with different types of music. It sounded so much better than stock and altogether was only into for about $300. Assuming I can return the JBL tweeters I bought.

I just got done upgrading my 2023 non bose trail boss yesterday, and let me just say, this thing rocks! I didn't expect this factory head unit to sound this good!
Here is my setup:
2 - JL Audio C1-690 6x9 speakers in front doors
2 - Kenwood Excelon KFC-X2C speakers/tweeters in dash
2 - Rockford Fosgate P16 6" speakers in rear doors
Alpine 45w 4 channel amp

Skar Audio RP-1200.1D Monoblock Class D MOSFET Amplifier pushing 2
JL Audio 8W1v3-4 8" subs In

QPower QBGMCFF07208 8 Inch Dual Port Subwoofer Enclosure Box with Underseat Down Fire box

AudioControl LC7i 6-channel line output converter.

PAC LPHGM71 LocPro Advanced T-Harness for the wiring.

This system sounds as good as anything I've ever had, and I did it myself. All together I spent around $1,600. Not bad considering my local Aspen sound wanted $1,400 just to install 2 crappy 8" subwoofers in a budget box

It still blows my mind that people think bose is good. Straight trash.

And by people I mean the dealership. My salesman was talking that shit up like it was the new messiah. I told him to save the schtik, it wasn't my 1st bose equipped vehicle, I've known for a long time that bose is mediocre (at best).
