6.2 vs 5.3?

Just joined this forum and looking for some real world advice. I will be buying a Trailboss within the next week and was looking for some advice. My local dealer has several 6.2L but no 5.3L. Is it true that the 6.2 requires premium fuel? If so what happens when you just run regular non priming fuel?
Thanks for any insight you might have.
They both require 93 octane (only 91 available near me but it runs fine). I had a 2019 Custom Trail Boss with the 5.3, then purchased a 2021 LT Trail boss with the 6.2. The 6.2 definitely has way more grunt, but the 5.3 is no slouch and will do great if you can get it with the 10-speed transmission. The 2019 was a little sluggish but I feel strongly that most of that was due to the 6-speed transmission. Superchips had some dyno charts that showed that the 5.3 got more power to the tires with the 10-speed transmission versus the 6-speed. So I would also expect better gas mileage if you can get the 5.3/10-speed setup.

No way the 6.2 gets close to my 5.3 in mpg because you guys can’t keep your foot off the floor🤣
Just got back from family vacation, I got 26.3mpg (50 mile avg) at best w/ my 6.2 mainly between 55-65 mph depending on traffic, construction and speed limits.

Only mods to effect fuel economy; K&N 57 series kit, JLT catch can, Gibson Cat back exhaust, and tonneau cover.
