What's new

Bilstein

Finally got my Bilstein 6112, 5100 and Icon UCA's! Going on tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited!

Will you be installing yourself or having a shop do the installation?
I may do the rears myself, but the rest a shop for sure. They quoted me about $800 for the complete install including the alignment. The shop is about 2 miles from my house and does great work.

Definitely do the rears yourself and save a few $$. Two bolts on each and you don’t even need to jack it up 😀 The fronts aren’t that hard if you have the tools, some common sense and follow the directions. $800 is a good price though in my opinion, my shop wanted well over that so I did the work myself and just had them do the alignment.

Got mine installed last week.

For anyone who has leveled or small lift that owns a 2019-2021 trail boss, check to see if your sway bar is rubbing your axles. If so you will need to replace your sway bar links with GM part no 85590925. For 2022+ you already have this part. It is a longer link to clear the axle. Mine only hit when I was flexing the suspension.
Before and after pics below. Added a better after oicy

Just ordered a pair from Rock Auto. $39 total to my door.
My links are not rubbing but I noticed the other day they are angled to the max.
Thanks for the info 👍

Glad I could help. Hopefully others see this and check out their setups.

i have mine laying on the bench....i have the longer version (factory 23)....but choose to keep them with the bar itself on the floor.

YES... i do not run sway bars, i let the shock due the work.

I am running 5100’s on my Trail Boss plus 1/2”. So I think that is 2 1/2 inches of lift. I installed Bilstein UCA’s and I am having alignment issue. Too much Caster. Any help or info would be appreciated.

I came across a video on YT, 1yr review and he found that his issue was the shorter ones. I recently removed a RC 1.5" leveling with the RL SST kit. Thankfully neither one had any issues ! 2019 Custom. Great info to help others

I’m surprised that Bilstein doesn’t mention it in the instructions but it is very common for aftermarket control arms to increase the castor. This is done intentionally to make the driving experience with larger tires better.
The instructions for my Cognito arms had a page dedicated to alignment specs:

What are the specs you are achieving ?
About 4.5 neg is an ideal castor....but slightly more should not hurt

Correct, no rubbing at all. I am the top (highest) setting on the front shock.

Yes, shocks, UCAs, tires, done. HUGE upgrade, rides so much better it is "shocking". hah. I am a Jeep guy and modifying things usually makes the ride worse. It's so good, I'm not sure why they didn't leave the factory this way.
Hey Len919,

What part numbers were your setup exactly.

Thinking about swapping out my stock ranchos and readylift sst spacers for what you did.

Please let me know the sku/part numbers so I can look them up.
