What's new

Bilsteins

OK. One last question. I understand this would depend on driving conditions... should there be any coil bucket contact, if the strut is set to its highest setting? At 80 years young, I won't be doing any of the wild stuff from years ago. However, I wouldn't want a "thunk" going over a parking lot speed bump.
these are a bolt in replacement, typically the "THUNK" you mostly likely speak of....is coming from Control Arms contacting the droop stop pads.

when you level a truck (raising the front end), and do not address the control arms or droop pads, you may have a scenario where the make contact. the older torsion bar trucks were even worse.

on these models, if you look at the upper control arm...there is a small, thin pad placed under one side of the arm...this may or may not be 1. modified...BFH to flatten it down some 2. remove entirely

i personally do not recommend removal, but i also know i may HEAR it make contact. this is where some large ID heater hose makes a nice softener.

the whole reason most leveled trucks ride worse, was the droop travel has been reduced.

I recently put the 6112 in the front and 5100 in the rear. 6112 are set to the highest clip setting and It removed all most all of the rake which was exactly what i wanted. As far as ride goes, compared to stock its 100% better. Nice planted feel and never have a concern about bottoming out on pavement change, pot holes or construction transitions. Off road they respond very well although I haven’t really put them through the paces yet. As far as UCA, if you lift at all, you will need a new one. I just opted for the bilstein one more for cosmetic reasons and so everything matches.
I just purchased the 6112s to put on my 25 Trail Boss. On the highest clip, is your front end higher than the rear or is it completely level?

It actually still has a slight rake. Almost unnoticeable but definitely not a squat. Here is a current picture, not great but you should be able to get the idea. They also have been on long enough to settle in on the highest setting. I also am running 275/70R18’s
