OEM Battery lifespan?

Just replaced mine with a Costco/Interstate AGM. Clerk rang it up as a standard battery ($125) on accident I guess. I didn’t notice til I checked the receipt at home. Maybe he gave me a senior discount 😎.

Just picked up the same battery today. But mine was $200. Will install this weekend.

Jeez, I must have great luck. Are cars easier on batteries than trucks?

My last 3 vehicles, all purchased brand new:
2002 Impala (8 years)
2010 Malibu (6 years)
2016 Impala (6 years)

I have never replaced an OEM battery.

Older vehicles are easier on batteries for sure. They don’t have start / stop for one thing.

I just replaced my factory battery with making it 3.5 years roughly. Went with the Diehard platinum but dang, $242 is crazy!

Finally got around to installing my new battery today. Noticed it has a higher CCA then the original one, wnich is great

Just replaced my oem battery on my 2020 TB, it would have been five years in July , not bad for a factory battery and 67K miles. Went with a yellow top Optima battery .

My '23 TB 6.2 is only 2 years old, but the Arizona heat is extremely rough on batteries. I always believe in a little preventative maintenance, so I think I might go down to Walmart and buy a new one. 175 bucks is sure better than getting stranded on the side of the road when its 112 degrees!

My 2020 Silverado 1500 3.0 diesel was 4.5 years old, 94000 miles and still had the original battery when I sold it. I may be one of the only people here that doesn't mind the auto start/stop and always used it. Also always have a radar detector plugged in to the cig lighter. Never noticed any issues. Truck at times sits for a couple weeks unused when out out the country. Considering that OEM batteries, tires etc are often "economy" units I thought it was pretty good.

People will talk smack about all types of batteries....I use to swear by optima, then they had issues....I was a Johnson guy before that...

In the end, get the correct size and class with the best warranty for your largest retail chain....easy to replace if ever needed.

Optima only due to Winch, lights etc ..: they can draw power and still start up..: I’m oldish so ,.. I am the get off my lawn guy , but won’t leave anything to chance….we can’t control… quality control, so if optima is not like it was once , Walmart batteries won’t be any better ..love this forum hasn’t gotten to negative like some of the others…

Totally agree with your last statement. The level of common sense, respect, and willingness to help are more evident here than on several other Forums I've been on.

totally agree, only reason i mention large retail is easy access in most cases to find a close replacement, some specialty names can be harder to locate.

2019 Custom, with no obvious signs to the original battery I had it tested(showed "bad") and replaced. After shopping I opted for this Odyssey. 850 CCA and 150 min. reserve. As prices go wow they are pricey but NAPA has 20% off. Get this, I was my age old finding out this battery did not have a core charge when I took it in and they checked twice. They offered my $5 !
