'Platinum' Chevy extended warranty cost

Knapp is the place to go in my opinion. I just turned 29,000 miles on my 2023, and I am planning to wait as long as I can before purchasing the extended warranty.

I will definitely keep Knapp in mind. I have also been researching info about Autopom!. They "seem" to be one of the better aftermarket vehicle service contract companies.

The thing I like about Knapp, is that it is a Chevy warranty.

That is definitely a bonus that it is specific to Chevy! Thanks for the info! As I did state, I have looked into AutoPom! and they have been rated an A+ rating with the BBB.

BTW, I see you currently reside in Tucson. I used to live in Arizona for approximately 15 years. I loved it there! A lot to do and great weather! Haha!

Excellent responses. Hadn't really considered buying the extended warranty close to the end of the 3 year bumper to bumper, but that may indeed be a good option, depending on your factors. Not to mention, with new trucks costing crazy coin these days, it can be a bitter pill to plop down another couple/few $k on an intangible warranty at signing. Still waiting on my truck, will post back when I get warranty quotes from dealer and Knapp.

Greetings, from a soon-to-be owner of a new 2025 Silverado 1500 TB.
Would like to purchase the GM Chevy extended warranty 'Platinum' plan at signing, which I believe is essentially a 5 year extension on the factory 3 year bumper to bumper. I think the usual retail quote is $3500, but have seen some posts on this site for purchases of less than $2500. Just curious what other GM truck owners with Platinum have recently paid to get an idea of what I should offer. Thank you.
I got them to throw in a Platinum 2 for me last week, with my truck purchase. I have no idea what it means, but he said it was basically a bumper to bumper warranty, for 4 years/50,000 miles. He mailed off the paperwork to me this morning, through USPS. I still like having paperwork i can hold in my hand. Lol

just read over it closely, ASK when it starts or ends totally....4ry/50k bumper to bumper that overlaps the factory 3/36....would be hard to swallow, unless it was totally free.

we have a couple dealers around STL, that offer LIFETIME bumper to bumper warranties....but ALL services have to be at their network of dealers

I called my dealership and got some prices , very comparable to what's on here( I will negotiate further 😂)I told them I would call back around 35K. . Again as others have said I see no point in overlapping your coverage from the factory, except for possibly the purchase price increasing . I have never bought an extended warranty in my life but I am definitely considering it on this truck. I absolutely love the truck but just too much on it that I couldn't fix and every little thing is so expensive!!! This is a very informative thread.

My Trail Boss finally arrived after a long delay in shipping, even though it was assembled fairly quickly. First Platinum quote from from dealer was at $3870
(8 yrs, 100k miles, zero deductible) then lowered to $2870. Quote from Knapp was slightly higher than dealer. Was considering waiting until near the end of the 3 year factory bumper to bumper, but decided to buy from the dealer at signing so as to roll the warranty into the loan - I'm planning on paying the loan within a year so the interest expense will be negligible. Note that I did not speak to a Knapp rep in person to negotiate, I just received an automatic quote from the Knapp website by entering vehicle info. So, I'm covered bumper to bumper now for 8 years, 5 years beyond factory b2b . Hopefully won't need it, but I'll be surprised if I don't. Like many, I'm leery about engine issues and the longevity of electronic/computer laden cars. Thanks again for the excellent replies - very helpful.

Ended up settling at 8yr/80k for 3308.00. Salesman explained the policy price does consider the overlap in factory warranty with platinum plus coverage and supposedly is cheaper than purchasing lets say just before the factory coverage expires. Not sure this is 100% true, but I don't want to have to worry about scratching a check for 4k in 3 years either....That is a 0 deductible plan as well....

I could be wrong but I believe all the extended warranties begin at date of service and miles at purchase. These warranties are not in addition to the manufacturer warranty.

You are correct. The warranty begins on date of purchase, and if your original one is still in force, there will be some overlap. I have 29k on my 23 TB and I am waiting to purchase to minimize that overlap.

I didn’t write it how I meant it. I think if an extended warranty is say, 7 years or 80k, it all starts at purchase of vehicle. The 7/80 is the total time on right rig, not from the purchase of policy. At least that’s the way the policy writers have explained it to me.

I was talking abou buying the Chevy from Knapp. It starts the day you buy it. That's why I am trying to get as close to 36K without going over as I can.

the cost of the warranty goes up in correlation to the age and mileage of the truck. An 8/100 platinum warranty is going to cost less on a brand new truck than on a 35 month old 35k mile truck.
