Purchasing decision - 2.7l Turbo vs 6.2l

Hey all - joining to sort through my final phase of decisions. Going back and forth on getting one of the base LT Trail Boss in the 2.7t (to save the $10k) or springing for the 6.2 with the works...

Really think I would regret not having the cameras parking downtown, and while I do like the 2.7t from some test drives, I feel like I would always wish I had the 6.2. 10 grand is 10 grand (damn these trucks have gotten expensive) but over the loan after my trade-in/down payment, we are only talking about a $300 / mo difference (maybe more if I actually keep the truck for a longer time, which I am more likely to do with the 6.2).

What is a man to do?
I personally would pay the extra now for the bigger engine, because more than likely down the road you are going to wish you had. I have the Duramax Diesel and love it, but made that choice because of the awesome gas milage. Otherwise, I would have went for the 6.2.

Also, purchased ours with GM pricing with employer code without a problem. We had to order ours and it only took about 12 weeks.

The 5.3 is prone to the same lifter issues if it has DFM instead of AFM. DFM, regardless of the displacement or which hood it is under, is what is causing the lifter issues. I know of a few people with the 5.3 who had the same lifter issues as I did in my 6.2. Each time, it was DFM instead of AFM.
I'm going by real world experience. The 6.2 has way more issues than the others. They call them "COVID motors" because many of the 6.2's were built and stored outside during 2021 and weren't protected from the weather. They went into new trucks. You might a good one, you might not. This comes from my brother, who told me about it. Just sayin'!

Has anyone heard anything bad about the 3.0 Duramax? I have a 21 with the 5.3 with zero problems but really wish I had the diesel 👍

Nothing that can’t be fixed by spraying some windex on it though

It has to do with bad lifters from the manufacturers, it has NOTHING to do with "covid" or being stored or ANYTHING like that! Stop propagating lies!
I also tried explaining to him that it has nothing to do with the displacement. It was any V8 (5.3 or 6.2), any model vehicle, that had DFM that got those bad batch of lifters. There are a couple of guys in this forum that posted about having lifter issues, and they were both the 5.3. So I am not sure where the rumor that the 6.2's are worse came from. But it is absolutely not true.

Covid motors ? WTF ? not even going to respond to that...

I have had three 5.3's, two Silverado's and one Tahoe...... I have a 6.2 in my LT Boss and am very very happy I made that choice..... as others have said go big or go home...
