Service Brake Pad Monitor?

On your steering wheel right hand side page thru your Infor options (tire pressure, oil percent etc.) You will find brake pad percent. You can turn it off there.

I could be wrong but I doubt there’s a sensor that measures the brake pad thickness and reports it as a percentage of life left.
I actually think that's exactly how it works.

Well I did say, “I could be wrong” 🤣

$1200 dollars for front pads rear pads and rear rotors!!! Cough!!! I did mine myself for about 1/3 of the cost… I did need to replace my front rotors and pads on mine around 40,000 miles, I tow a lot so that makes sense…Seems very weird that your rear wound go before your front system, the brake power is like 70% front and 30% rear stopping power… I’m interested in what Chevy tells you… I always ask for my parts that get replaced from any shop, I unfortunately do not TRUST any auto shop..was pretty easy changing the rotors and pads myself..

How do you do that? I have a 2021 TB with the 6.2L. There are a bunch of things in the computer I want to turn off or change.
I'll take a quick video later and send it to you.

Turn it off in DIC, You owners manual tells you how. look under Information and Controls the DIC. Look at what level of DIC you have

As a follow up, I submitted a claim/complaint to customer service. As expected, they were worthless and it sounded like a canned response. I didn't ask them to pay for the repair. I just told them the quality of their parts must suck OR the dealership was being deceitful telling me I needed new front and back pads and rotors at 34k miles. That's OK, I unloaded this money pit earlier this week... Live and learn!

From Chevrolet Customer No Service:
Thank you for contacting CHEVROLET Customer Assistance regarding your 2020 CHEVROLET SILVERADO.

We understand that you do not feel replacement of this particular component should be your responsibility but Chevrolet considers it to be a regular maintenance item and not covered by our manufacturer’s warranty. There are many components in which CHEVROLET considers replacement to be normal maintenance of a vehicle. Examples would be windshield wiper blades, head or tail lamps, tire replacement caused by normal wear and brake pad or brake rotors. Keep in mind these are just a few examples. We encourage all customers to review the owner’s manual and warranty booklet included with a new vehicle purchase. GM cannot participate in the repair costs.

I apologize we were unable to honor your request. Chevrolet Customer Assistance looks at each situation individually and is unable to provide assistance at this time.

On a regular basis at startup my 2020 TB will tell me that new front brake pads are detected…

My brake warning came on at abut 40K, saying I had about 5,000 miles left and to change pads. I thought yeah right!! Owned Chevy trucks for 35 years and never changed pads before 70K. Well, I bought a set of genuine GM pads with the brake sensor to have on hand just in case. When I went to do my scheduled oil change at home, I decided to pull a tire and found that the warning was correct and my pads were down to nothing. (Ridiculous). So, I went ahead and pulled the rear tire to find the rear pads were down to about 30% . Not impressed with quality of pads for sure. To make things worse, I inspected my rotors to find that parts of the top layer of steel were beginning to swell and peel!! I did a complete 4 rotor change out on everything and hoping for better results over the next 40K. As far as the brake wear sensor goes, it is very accurate but can be a nuisance as it can load with dirt/debris and brake dust causing faulty warnings to service brake monitor. You must access the trucks computer after installing your new brake wear sensor. The sensor wears down as your brake pads wear down. I went with Brembo UV treated rotors from RockAuto, had already purchased the OEM GM pads, but maybe should consider another mfg. which I never do.
So, if you get that warning at around 40K about brakes.....You're not crazy and should pull a wheel and have a look!

Add me to the list now… I’m all ears if someone can recommend an upgraded brake kit for our trucks that won’t be so problematic… I don’t want these sensors.
