Active Fuel Management

Broken things suck... No doubt about it it. Especially when the break and subsequent failure is because of manufacturer defect. For our hard earned dollars we all want a truck that will never break, run flawlessly for 300,000 miles and get us anywhere we want to go without ever getting stuck. This is, of course, unrealistic.

Back in the dark ages, before LS engines, (as I'm sure many of you remember) we would tear into our small and big blocks with power hungry grins adding cams and lifters, aluminum intakes, headers, and giant carburetors. 4" lifts and 33" tires were HUGE! And if someone splurged for a roller cam....that was some amazing technology:ROFLMAO:... My '75 K10 got 6MPG down hill with a tail wind.

I'm still amazed that right out of the box my Trail Boss has 355 HP and gets 18MPG. My warranty has expired and I've got AFM, so 8 AFM lifters... 8 chances for an AFM lifter to fail... But if that happens I've already decided I'm not gonna cry about it! I'll use it as an opportunity dive in and make some modifications. The AFM delete kit; cam and lifters, push rods, head gaskets, VLOM plugs, and ECM retune can be done for less than $1,000 in parts. The labor is what's expensive. So I'll invite over my son, and some friends, and over a weekend with pizza and a couple of cold beers do what we used to do... Build something how the factory should have done it in the first place and make a whole lot of good memories in the process.

I love this truck. It's part of our family. I refuse to throw it out or speak poorly of it because of something that might happen. To each his own, but I'm all about being happy and making some good memories and keeping the heartbeat of America pumping.(insert bow tie here)

See y'all on the trail!

Lol, I get ~12 MPG 6.2L mostly city driving. Without Pulsar, it was ~13 MPG.
I'm about to install a pulsar on my 2023 6.2L is there any advice information you might have for me after your install? pros and cons by doing this ect?

2020 TrailBoss, 5.3L, OEM LT275/65R18 113/110Q, Run stock since new. Just put a new set of tires on Friday 4/6/24 after 63,500 on the OEM tires.
No off road, unless I miss the driveway as they say. Do a fair share of towing, 5000lbs.
Most of my driving is on cruse control. Highway and city. Left thumb gets a workout.
Best mileage was level highway on cruse.

Also read on this forum. If you need to know if you have DFM. When driving, take your foot of the gas. If your milage jumps to 99mpg, you have DFM.

I have no complaints with the Duratrac, other than road noise. 63,500 and still could have done 65,000+ but I was done. Went with Mechlein Defender LTX M/S2 285/65P18, quiet tire.

Best MPG.

Do I need a Pulsat LT for towing?

Best I get with the 5.3 also have Pulsar LT is 18.6
What is the difference between this and the Range cheaper model as far as AFM and Auto Start Stop? I know it has other features but are they about the same for AFM?

The difference is Range only has AFM/DFM disable or Autostop disable. So you have to pick which one you want. I wanted to be able to turn off Auto stop and AFM/DFM both at the same time and still be able to use my ODB port for diagnostic purposes. With the Range you still have to reset everything you want to use the OBD port to check why the engine light came on. I actuality have a new Pulsair LT in the original packaging. They're was a mess up in shipping to the sent me a new one because it got lost in shipping. But a few days later it showed up. So I now have an extra one. Message me if interested, I would let it go for 400.00.
