GM Finally recalling '21-24 6.2L V8's

My '22 VIN is confirmed (on experience.gm.com) as part of the recall, but I went to the dealer yesterday and they told me it will be a month or more before they start bringing trucks in for the "correction" procedure.
got to order new oil caps to fix the issues :ROFLMAO:

Does this mean I should just go ahead and switch to 0W-40 oil now, and use that going forward? Does anyone know? I have a 2021 6.2L.

I am not to worried about the recall. I have a 2022 LTD Trailboss 6.2 I bought new in January of 2022. As of to day I have 26,000 miles. I Still have plenty of warranty left. Attached a few photos. Pulling good oil pressure, Been using BG MOA Oil Supplement after first oil change.( some call snake oil) Using J&L Oil Separator. (See picture of waste) also have dealer 10 year million mile drive train warranty.

I would like to know the GM INSPECTION they plan to perform...there are several videos floating around of Wrist pin clips missing or clip retaining shoulders missing from the pistons

I had seen this somewhere else as well but cannot recall where. Maybe over in GM-trucks. This is from carbuzz.com so not sure about reliability. Seems like they’re gonna see if a code is set and then replace with new oil. Oh, and a new oil cap. All fixed, haha. Wouldn’t make sense to have dealer techs physically check for defect parts, too costly.

So I called my Chevy dealership yesterday and talked to one of their service technicians. He said I should change to 0W-40 immediately and they will get me in to check for the code when they can (and change the oil cap to reflect 0W-40 and do the owner's manual insert). But I don't have any engine lights, so I am not too worried. And I have about 60,000 miles and no issues so far, so I will just change my oil when it is due lol.

Scheduled an appointment in June at my dealership. The next day they cancelled the appointment and said GM hasn’t given any directive yet on how to address the issue. The service guy said GM made a mistake putting this recall out to the public. I think I’m going to contact GM and make sure this is true.

Story today said GM will send letter to customers on June 9th.

I was told the exact same thing by my dealership

I'm very happy having purchased an 8yr/100k mile GM Platinum plan. After pistons and rings at 70k miles in our 2015, and a transmission at 80k miles in our 2018, I refuse to take another GM vortec blanket beating. We have a 2025 6.2l and i'm quite sure it has the same exact issues as the '21-'24s.

More fun reading:

I just contacted my GM Dealer, Haley Chevorlet in Midlothian, VA. Their service manager's response was that "We have no instructions on what to inspect and there is no know remedy for the issue. They claim they are getting calls from concerned folks who bought these $60K trucks and received the recall notice but there is nothing they can do at this time. BS.

Man, you guys are scaring me to death.. I don't know what all the issues the 6.2 had or has but I remember reading an article somewhere that some improvements were made to all 6.2's made after June 1 2024, is there any truth to that? Do we think the 2025 6.2 trucks should be better? I still went ahead and changed my oil and filter at 500 miles 1600 now and all is very well, got addicted to driving in sport mode because of the killer exhaust sound.
