GM Finally recalling '21-24 6.2L V8's

not real sure why every one is griping....until it lets go, just drive it. take it for service and see what comes of it. get the coverage, or get the new engine....either way, we get coverage.

Here's a teardown of a 2019 6.2 that appears was replaced out of warranty. Lots of odd stuff with an engine that looked to have under 50k miles on it.

if the oil is too thin, it no worky...
i would not expect to see anything normal with this fluid film....
just a sad day that some engineer thought the 20 weight would suffice. very rarely do i run what the OE says is adequate, but ever since the 5.3 lift issues, i run what they say....no blame on me.

The Motor Oil Geek said he was part of GM testing and they tested 0W12 but found it to be too thin at low RPM high load situations.

That was an interesting video. And he makes a good point that it's obviously a myth that you can't do thicker oil than the manufacturer recommends. They tested for the thinnest oil possible while still providing "adequate" protection, to provide the best gas mileage possible.

How many 6.2L owner's are on this Forum? I am one of them. 2022 LTD 6.2 TB. And I have had zero problems with my engine. 26,000 miles so far so fairly new. Just curious how many owner's with the 6.2 have had the engine recall problem? Again just curious.

I have a 6.2L, however I bought my TB in 21 with the 5.3. Guessing I wouldn't get a recall notice regardless. I had no issues with my 5.3L and no issues yet with the 6.2L.

Ugh! GM now saying 0W40 could void your warranty, even though they are telling you to switch to it ONLY if your truck is one of the effected ones!

Don’t go rogue. Only we can tell you how to fix the vehicle that we potentially screwed up in the first place. GM engineers still know best

it has been stated numerous times, the LT series (back when designed), NEEDED 5W30, the CHOICE to go 0w20 was gain the necessary IN-TOWN mileage the GOV was mandating at the time...HOPEFULLY, the works for guys like Kory Willis will help relieve a few tight strings the EPA enforced but never really had the authority to do....

my local dealer claims NO FIX has been issued by GM as of yet...that is BS, i think they are awaiting the oil fill caps...i need to go verify the id sticker on the head and see what date it states.

Saw an update on the recall today that states every engine noted with a manufacture date before a specific date in 2024 is to be replaced.
