Hood scoop / paint damage

Part of me wants to leave it off until GM says what they will do about it. But don't need 22 fastener holes in the hood!

At least the hood is aluminum and not steel👍

My 22 TB has the hood issue an issue with my grill and also paint peeling off on rocker panels and around rear wheels where the stiple more protective paint is at. It also has an issue with the drivers window top seal it's all messed up. I just hope it doesn't leak when it finally rains here. I went to dealership and they will do nothing for me. So I called GM and now have a regional person helping me. My auto stop start also doesn't work and hasn't since purchase. My truck has 2800 miles on it.

Any word yet on a fix for the refresh TB and ZR2 hood/hood scoop paint issue.

Just heard from a regional person at GM that all paint issues are being put on hold until engineers come up with a fix or solution.

Thanks for the update. Doesn't sound like this will be addressed for quite some time. This is pretty disheartening on a truck that is a little over a month old.

Purchased my truck August 26, 2022. Reported the issue to the dealership shortly thereafter. Called Chevrolet Customer Assistance and explained the issue today 11-23. The employee called the dealership to inquire why there has been no communication and of course the individual there that customer service needed to reach didn't come in until 9AM. Dealership suggested they call back after 9:30AM. The customer assistance employee stated that she would try to get the necessary information and let me know as soon as she could. Ill post any information I receive. Very disheartening.

I also purchased my TB in early August 2022. I purchased it out of state. After reading story about this issue I contacted the dealership I purchased it from and my in state dealership and both stated that GM was aware of the issue and was working on a fix. I was told I would be notified when it’s worked out - - . Still also waiting for my park assist retrofit.

Received a call from my salesman who has been great in all of this. He sent me the attached photos of the notice from GM and still no word on a fix as of today.

if I would like to remove my scoop and have a regular hood do you know what kind of work would be involved?

fill in hood and repaint it?

There is no way to fill in and re-use existing hood-unless you're ok with 1/2" bondo.
Easiest thing is to find someone with a black non-TB and swap hoods. 8 bolts. (4 each truck).

Sitting in the teens for mileage, and chipping already on my hood. Granted mine was built early in the summer so took a while to get here to begin with.

I don't really think at this point that anything is going to be done. Shy of a class action lawsuit, GM has your money and good luck getting them to stand behind what they have built.

For those of us that would want to sell our trucks to someone else, it would lessen the sale price since you have a truck with a clear defect. Try turning in a Chevrolet rental with paint defects and watch what happens to your final bill.

I'm not sure what a warranty is for when GM won't stand behind their product. I hope the dealers are telling clients that the truck they want to purchase has a defect acknowledged by GM on July 14, 2022 & literally zero has been done to address it. Very frustrating.

My selling dealership is fixing mine, spending a week with it, and giving me a rental. They claim that no one has come back again after these repairs, but time will tell. Quickly getting it xpel wrapped shortly after to help prevent more damage.
