Hood scoop / paint damage

This is ridiculous. Is there anyone on here with a refresh 22 or 23 that DOESN’T have this hood scoop paint chip problem?
I haven’t seen any 22/23 TBs to see the design or how the scoop is mounted. I’m no engineer but you would think they would leave sufficient space for the hood and scoop to rattle/ shake and not touch each other👎

That's the PROBLEM. They left TOO much space and not enough cushion so they vibrate and touch each other and cause the paint to rub/get chipped.

Nothing has been provided to me from the dealership as to a fix. Ill probably waste my time & document a letter to GM customer service in the next few days. After that file a complaint with the Michigan Attorney General's Office which will probably be another waste of time. Then look into a court case since GM is not honoring their warranty.

And while this period of no warranty work on our defective truck hoods, GM announces a record profit year for 2022 with bonuses exceeding $12,000 for workers. And in the meantime, my mailbox provides me on a weekly basis, advertisements for me to purchase yet another GM?

Just saw a YouTube video about the paint damage being caused by the hood scoop on the ZR2 and Trail Boss. GM service bulletins PIT 5930. Just checked my TB that I picked up on 8/10. It’s also showing this damage.
My 2022 TB has the same issue. 1600 miles

Found the below posted on a ZR2 forum. Kind of a crazy fix to me - telling the dealer to source materials from amazon? 😒

Cleaning up things and my new 2022 has the paint chips in the front of the 'scoop'.
Yeah dude I picked up a freshly delivered custom ordered TB yesterday and it's pretty horrible around the scoop. It is what it is. Dealer will work me in once chevy tells em what to do about it. Small dealer. Probably havnt seen many TB's. I know the 23's come with a felt material buffering between scoop and hood surface.

LOL I love the GM bulletin says to get the neoprene rubber gasket tape from Amazon!

Was at dealership today to have backordered assist steps installed that finaly came in after 4 months and DRL Safety Bulletin software update taken care of so i mentioned the hood scoop paint issue to the service manager. He wasnt aware of any issues or bulletins off the top of his head but said he would look into it. When he came to get me to tell me truck was finished he said he looked into paint issue and that there is in fact a service bulletin on this issue. He took it upon himself to look at my hood and informed me i have said issue with the paint and that he ordered the kit/parts to take care of it. Said when they come in i would be contacted to set up appointment with the body shop. He said the bulletin instructs them to remove the hood scoop, refinish the hood and re instal hood scoop with new parts which im assuming is the felt gasket kit.

Thanks to one of our members from Ohio that posted the GM document with the Amazon fix, I contacted the dealership. They will take the truck in for repairs in about 2 weeks. Truck will go an off site body shop, then return to the dealership to have plastic hood re-attached. Total fix time about one week. They will provide a vehicle to drive in the meantime. Disappointing that the dealership sold the truck knowing of the issue in the first place, and at no time have I been contacted by their service advising me of the defect or any repairs, the contacts have been always initiated by me. Will post after the Amazon fix developed by the GM engineers as the result of the fix.

That's exactly how mine it on both sides. No other chipping around the scoop. (since sept '22) so I'm not in a rush to start dealing with the dealer to get the warranty fix and possibly cause more issues.

I took delivery of mine Feb 10 with hood damage in all 4 corners of the scoop. Along with clear coat damage to the passenger side of the hood and various black paint transfers from some kind of contact. I made sure my dealer was aware of the fix GM has sent out and will be dropping the truck off March 8th for the hood to be repainted and the spacing between hood and scoop to be rectified with materials sourced from Amazon. Will update in this thread.

Have you notified your Chevy service department ?
They pretty much told me to talk to body shop. Body shop told me to talk to service. Sales told me to refer to my extra warranty that i purchased with a $100 ded. and yes mine too was made outside the US!

Same here: mentioned it on my first visit to the Dealer, they made note of it and sent it to the body shop for an estimate. I told them I would wait until a proper fix was in place. Since a have a ceramic coating and it's not getting worse, I'll just do it before warranty runs out.
