rear window leak

Dude that sucks… shouldn’t this be covered under warranty since it’s a known issue?
Nope. I asked. Also it’s not a recall either because not a safety issue. Was told would take a class action lawsuit with lot of people in it for GM to have to do anything. So if anybody on here is an atty , Iam in !!

Issue is caused by the window sealant cracking allowing water to enter the cabin. The GM "fix/band aid" is to remove the spoiler and apply a very liberal amount of seam sealer. I have tried this on about 5 trucks and it maybe worked for 2. At this point if a truck comes in with a leaking rear window its getting new glass and all the old sealant gets removed. Done fucking around with GM's patch.

Im having the same rear window leak issue. Except GM is telling me its not under warranty, even tho i bought the truck certified pre owned (12 month bumper to bumper) 6 months ago. It actually leaked onto and blew up my amp. They said the amp is covered under warranty, but they will not cover the back glass. Im furious with GM. has anyone had a similar experiance? If so, how did you go about getting it right?

Noticed my 2020 LT TB with 51,000 miles is leaking now too!! Grrrrr.. Can anyone build shit right anymore!!!! This is insane.

Another reason I wanted a Custom TB with solid rear glass! Another forum has a detailed procedure on why it leaks and how to fix it. LINK

Mine leaks too. I wonder if I could just have an auto glass place swap it to a standard window without the problematic slider. Has anyone done that here? I don’t even use the window slider.

A good idea. I very rarely open mine anyway.

Writing to follow up with my leak issue. After many lengthy talks with GM Customer support, and my local Chevy dealer, i ended up gettin gin touch with the dealer where i purchased the truck (4.5 hours away). They told me that if i brought it in to them, they would do everything they could to get it corrected for me. They diagnosed the leak as coming from the spoiler and dripping along the power slider window frame to the drivers side corner, and NOT the window itself. Turns out it just needed 8 new bolts and some new sealer around the spoiler. I have yet to pick up he truck and have it out in a storm, so will keep the thread up to date. Hope this helps anyone who is told that the window is leaking and it wont be replaced under warranty!

Is that the closest GM dealer to you? Any dealer can do warranty work.
