What did you do to your Trailboss today? 🛠️

Blacked out the fake exhaust tips today. Not an easy project. But worth it. Sorry, I don't have a before pic, but we all know what the chrome looks like.

1.5 inch spacers
I like the 1.5 inch spacers. Let's me run a full set of well-fitted Snow Chains.

Oh, also ... with my Recovery Gear unloaded yesterday, I went up for a load of Firewood. One-Third of a cord fits as well as it did the larger bed of my 2011 Silverado: halfway up the rear window. It's about 850 pounds worth. And unloaded that to my wood racks.

Then I put all of my Recovery Gear back in. Planning to do some wheeling and exploring tomorrow (Level 4-5 Off Road) up near Estes Park.

SDHQ Brackets and Diode Dynamic ditch lights mounted (didn't have time to get wiring done as I am waiting for my light controller to arrive). I posted more pics on thread about ditch lights.

I took it up to the mountains, rock wheeled on a really rough road, and bashed the step rails. Again.
By rough I mean like driving on large, SQUARE BASKETBALLS just about the whole way.

Bunce School Road is near Allenspark, CO which is south of Estes Park. This road is a little over 5 miles of rugged rock and dirt, rated at 4.5-5 on the difficulty scale. I drove all the way to almost where it meets the pavement again. BUT ... there was a disabled vehicle (broken control arm, bent tie rod) BLOCKING the road. I had to back up, turn around, and drive the whole thing again. I was out for some practice, and I sure got some.

This was the first time I have Aired Down, running stock Wrangler Territories on 20 inch wheels. I set the RhinoUSA Deflators to about 20; this produced the pressures of 19, 17, 16 and 16 psi starting from the drivers front and clockwise.

We have discussed airing down, to maybe 20-25 psi. I can report that at 16 psi these Territories do very well over quite demanding terrain.

I made a very short, close up video of aired down tires meeting an obstacle, but I'll need to post it to my YouTube channel. So, later ...

Wrapped the chrome piece on the center console in a faux carbon fiber.
not sure I like it😬. Good thing is I can easily peel it off. View attachment 2051View attachment 2052
I think it turned out great! I just wrapped all the chrome interior trim pieces on mine last week. Door/center console, cup holders, steering wheel, a/c vents and radio bezel. I went with a 3M satin black instead of the carbon fiber. I can finally drive my truck w/o the sunlight hitting a piece of chrome trim and blinding me!

Picked up a steal of a deal on a set of tires for my second set of rims.

My 35" tires look great but kill the MPG and power from the 5.3l. Wanted another set for road trips and maybe for winter. Picked up a set of LT275/60/20 General Grabber ATX tires to go one a set of Fuel Sledge 20x9 rims in all black. Picked up the rims earlier this year for cheap.

Will have the set mount up by next weekend for our vacation road trip we have coming up. Who knows I might put them on my Wifes new 23 Tahoe Z71 after vacation.

I have a question. After doing that trip do you get an alignment when you get back?

I don't see any need for an alignment. Driving was very slow and purposeful. Airing down greatly eases the stresses on the suspension, it seems to me.

And it's a Chevy. That 4x4 outing was Friday. On Saturday, I did some highway driving at up to 80 mph. Straight and smooth as ever.

I don't feel the need for an extended warranty, or the need to be particularly careful. That's because I bought a Chevy. The recent Off Road Wrecker Games proved the legacy of this brand. ALL of the entrants were Chevy trucks, only one had a non-Chevy engine (Merlin's Cummins Diesel). As Rory of TrailMater fame has stated: "Oh, yeah ... those Toyotas make great 4x4 rides ... once you replace all the running gear with Chevy."

Finished up a "Chuck Box" to throw in the bed with a cooler, an easy up, a couple of chairs and a folding table...Instant camp kitchen anywhere I go. 🤙

I've been getting ideas from folks on this forum for months and finally pulled the trigger on a few upgrades this weekend. Let me know what you think!

Ready Lift SST +2" Lift Kit
Bilstein 5100's all the way around
20x10 RC wheels (-24 offset) no spacers; cleared the control arms and calipers w/plenty of room to spare
35x12.5x20 Venom Power RT's
Thanks to the RC front bumper, no trimming on the front needed and just did the back fender tuck to clear the back side of the front fender. Full turn with no rubbing.
JLT Oil Catch can
S&B CAI
That looks slick! I bought the same tires but installed 295s instead. If I go with a 4" lift giving me a full 6" total I'll put the 35"s on.
