What's new

What did you do to your Trailboss today? 🛠️

Excellent post! I’ve had my eye on several of these items. The bullet point mounting stuff looks great. As a matter of fact, your whole truck looks great. How do you like the switch so far?
Appreciate it! likewise! I The switch is great and the quality is on par with their other items like their mounts, but I just wish it was a bit brighter to illuminate the button icon a bit more.

i agree, i like the throw back to heritage....i have considered some myself.

the point i think most hate on is this...LOCATION, and QUANTITY. Make the truck what you want, if that is a a K10...go, but lets possibly remove the other umpteen hundred badges and clean it up. like i said, location is key also. take a peak at where GM put them, that helps carry the retro theme to the current model

Those are AWESOME

285/70r18s put on today.

Installed matching spare under with no issue.

Have the ready lift sst 2 plus 2 kit.

Tiny bit of rub on mud guards. Gonna snippy snippy tonight and see what happens.

This month I did:

- shorty antenna
- new window
- re-painted rocker panels, cut polished paint, 3m rocker panels, ceramic coated paint
- added side steps off amazon (iarmor)
- put a full set of duratracs 285/75r18s on, including spare

Now she is as pretty as new and Im done spending money until I need new shocks. Then ill consider some bilsteins or maybe even a big 4 inch lift kit from rough country or ready lift. Gonna wait until 160k for that mod though.

Are you using wheel spacers?

Ya. Got 1.5" spacers I think. Im running stock 18s too. I dont think I went 2".

Just barely rubbed full turn. Just cut out 1.5 inch of mud guard from the screw over and I think I got 90% of the rubbing cut out.

Nice!

After some cutting she still rubs in reverse at 90% turn or more. Kinda grumpy about it. Thought Id get more tire/wheel clearance than this.

So annoying that chevy loves to always burn us on tire and wheel clearances. Asking the engineers for 1 or 2 inches more room isnt even a big ask.

Probably going to upgrade rims. Ill show a snap shot of trimming for show and point where it still rubs. This is the wheel at 90%, you can see where if i were to back up and yold the wheel taught, she wpuld rub at the mud guard screw. Trimmed about as much as I am comfortable with. Might start to look horrible if I go any more.

Pics:

1) Passenger side mud guard cut at almost full left turn.

2) Driver side tire rub at almost for left turn.

Just curious. You didn’t get the carpeted wheel wells?
I was out of town for 10 days.

My Custom-Trim Level TB has carpet (heavy duty Felt?) style wheel well liners in front, but no wheel well liners in the rear. There are apparently many features which a Custom Trail Boss does not have versus the higher trim levels. And this is what I wanted, because it is a much simpler truck.

Even on the LT trims, the rear fender liners were part of the protection package that included the spray in bed liner. They could be ordered as a separate option. I didn't want the felt like material and put Husky liners on my TB Custom.

Ya i hear ya. On mine it just rubs on front. But now that ive cut away most of the rubbing material, it looks like it still rubs on a part of the metal under also.

So while these tires look amazing, it seems theyre just a little too big, even with spacers.

Go to a smaller spacer

Got her fixed now. Was driving me nuts. Got a bit of a hole now, but, no more rubbing.

Most people unbolt that bottom bracket for more clearance and zip tie the liner back.

It unbolts? Ohh. I thought it was pressure riveted on the frame rail. I ended up hitting it like 10 times with a jack hammer and bent it back a half inch at the bottom (that black metal piece there). Then spray bombed it for rust guard. Earlier on I used a zip disk to cut out like a 2.5 inch high triangle piece of the mud guard before that.

Im good now finally thank god. The rubbing was driving me insane. Not gonna lie.
