What's new

What did you do to your Trailboss today? 🛠️

It unbolts? Ohh. I thought it was pressure riveted on the frame rail. I ended up hitting it like 10 times with a jack hammer and bent it back a half inch at the bottom (that black metal piece there). Then spray bombed it for rust guard. Earlier on I used a zip disk to cut out like a 2.5 inch high triangle piece of the mud guard before that.

Im good now finally thank god. The rubbing was driving me insane. Not gonna lie.
The bracket unbolts, removing it allows you to pull the fender liner back. The crash bar however is welded to the frame.

Most cut too much or over think this....

Always push first...I have only cut a few in my day, and very little if that....push the liner, drill a.hole and add a tree push pin ....STOCK APPEARANCE when done.

Purchased my new to me 2020 Trail Boss on June 29, 2024. It had a leveling kit and stock UCA's on it when I purchased it. I have done the following so far:

Tonneau cover
bed mat
Range AFM delete
clay bar and/or buff and ceramic coating
installed running boards
Z71 floor mats
muffler delete
BDS 4" lift w/ Fox 2.5 coil-overs and 2.0 shocks installed
35 11.50 - 20 Falken A/T3w's installed on stock 20" wheels

Next on the list:
Purchased Brembo brake package, not yet installed. Dealer Quote to in stall my kit is $275.00. I thought that was a great price.
Purchased Fisher EZV plow, not yet installed. The person installing the plow specializes in plows on lifted trucks.

I really enjoy having and driving this rig. The lift kit and shocks made a huge improvement over the junk Rancho's. After this I think I am done for a while... :)

Had the Fisher EZV plowed installed recently. The plow itself had to be modified to fit on the TB w/ the 4" BDS lift. Some welding, longer hoses and chain were done to it. With my luck we won't get jack for snow this year....

It was that time, fast approaching 45k miles and with a 3k mile road trip coming up.

All new fluids:
  • Transmission fluid exchange
  • Rear Diff
  • Front Diff
  • Transfer case
Get ready to brace yourself if you haven't done this yet—fluids and gaskets alone will deflate your wallet. I still do not know what the engineers were thinking with two types of "special" gear oil at prices that make you feel like you're buying a bottle of fine wine!

Also, get ready for the headache of deciphering the build codes to determine which rear and front diff you have! That was fun!

Being the first cycle, I opted to pop the covers on the front and rear diff so I could flush them out and inspect the fluid. The jobs were straightforward, except the gasket on the front diff shredded and had to be scraped off. This wouldn’t have been so bad if I had more than two inches of clearance to work with. A long scraper and a LOT of patience (1.25 hours worth) later, and it was done. Torquing the bolts down on the front diff was also quite the adventure. I recommend a short 1/4 drive torque wrench!

I also decided to touch up the undercoating while I was at it!

You know, it’s all about being properly lubricated!

Had AMP research electric steps installed. Makes a huge difference so I don't have to hop in and out of the truck. I am short. Overall pricey AF but worth it to me

I have heard nothing but good things about AMP steps and I sure like the look of the fold down steps, I think the clean look pops the trucks stance vs seeing the visual nerf bars.

Problem is I am into so much crap with my TB that they have actually saved me from scratching it all to hell..

Moving up to 35's did you opt to regear the stock GU5 3:23's? I am about 5k miles away from switching out the stock DuraTrac's and considering jump up to 35's
