Anyone else? (ticking and shaking)

For sure, just didn't know if anyone else with the Custom 5.3 without DFM/AFM has had or heard of any issues.
I have a Superchips tuner which also has the function to keep my 6.2 in permanent V8 mode. That supposedly will help prevent lifter failure issues. It's when the cylinder is deactivated then suddenly needs to come back to life at 5500 RPM's that is giving these lifters a hard time. Or so I heard.

2020 Chevy Trail Boss with the 5.2
So, last night, the truck started ticking and shaking a bit, then the service ESC came on, then parking brake light. Parked it for the night, got up for work and left the house at 3 a.m, didn’t even get off our street and check engine light and transmission light came on along with the ESC and parking brake light again, only this time, it was ticking, shaking, and making worse noises. Turned around and parked it back in the driveway and waited for the local Chevy dealer service dept to open and drove it roughly 3 miles tops to the dealership to drop it off. Truck has only 20k miles. Anyone else had this problem or know if it’s a known issue?

Update: The dealership called to tell me that after they got everything back together, the catalytic converter was destroyed, due to the dumping of fuel on it and now needing to be replaced so they had to keep the truck longer and order that now, and won’t be till next week. I also argued that they should replace both sides with new lifters, rods, etc, but was denied due to their being told by GM to only do the failed side or they would not approve the warranty costs. I told them I’d pay for the parts to just do the other side since they were already there and there’d be no extra labor cost, but was told it was unnecessary and a waste of my money because from what they have seen, only one side or the other has failed, not both.
I ordered that Pulsar Lt tuner, it comes in tomorrow, so when I get my truck back next week, Im hoping this tuner will allow me to shut that part off so all lifters are being used as they should and not shut down, in hopes this doesn’t happen again

Does anyone know what happens if the vehicle has this same issues after the 3 year 36K warranty? Makes me nervous that my truck has around 48,000 miles on it and could possibly fail.. Definitely something I would not want to pay out of pocket to fix.. Maybe it’s time for me to start looking at the new ZR2 if that the case.. Best of luck, and definitely demand GM gives you a rental vehicle..
Sell! Sell! Sell!

Are you guys that run the Pulsar also running a catch can?

Yes I also have a catch can. No issues whatsoever. It's quite surprising that the can is about a third of the way full after 3,000 miles on a newer engine. They are worth the money for sure!

Well it happened to me yesterday!! All lights started flashing, truck was limited to 62 mph.. I shut it off and all the lights went out except the check engine light… I tried resetting the code and I also unhooked the negative terminal for 45 minutes, Engine light still on.. Very noticeable tapping noise coming from the engine at steady throttle, truck is still running strong though.. It’s a 2020 LT Trailboss 5.3 with just 50,134 miles on it… Figures I just paid it off and started buying lots of aftermarket accessories of over 18G so far making it look like the truck I wanted… Guess it’s off to the stealership… I put the pulsar on it like 5000 miles ago, thought I was one of the LUCKY ones who would not have lifter’s or valve problems… Really upsetting!! Grrrrrrrrrr

What codes did it set? You say it’s running strong but it’s limited to 62mph?

ESC lights came on, abc brake lights came on.. TC light came on and so did the limit to 62mph .. I drove like 2-3 miles with the truck shaking crazy and had very limited power.. Pulled over, turned off the truck and when I started it all lights went away but the check engine light, can’t get that to go off… The truck has a loud ticking noise when I’m sitting in neutral with steady gas around 1500- 2000 RPM… I changed oil and filter today even though it was still at 39% good… Truck seems to be running strong, just can’t get the check engine light off and their is a very noticeable lifter tapping… I will keep everyone updated on what I find out… Will be going for a short drive tomorrow to see what is going on… Unfortunately I love this truck and really don’t want to buy something else at this time…
