Wow!! Now I’m scared. I just lost my ass on resale value. I have a ‘24 TB 6.2. 2,200 miles. Bought new last November. Not sure how to find the engine build date. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Can you imagine your going down a grade hauling a heavy load when your engine seizes, trany goes into neutral and power brakes stop working.Yeah, that same bulletin was posted here by me as another GM tech posted it on GM Trucks website. His explanation is COMPLETELY different than what the guy in the video explained. The campaign open on my truck is in the 000 bulletin, which hasn't been released to anyone yet. There's no information on what it contains or what the resolution is. Dealer inventory gets new motors for the effected units. Customer vehicles get inspected and if deemed faulty will get new engine, otherwise get oil change and 10 year 150k warranty on engine. GM has ramped up engine production on the 6.2s to cover the demand for replacements. There has not been a stop driving order issued by GM, so all this "The sky is falling, you're going to die if you drive it" is a bunch of BS. These vehicles have electric steering which will continue to operate if the engine dies. From all accounts I have read, if the engine seizes, the transmission goes to neutral. Power brakes will be the only compromised system.
from the underside, look up at the driver side cylinder head....24122 is the magic number....anything after that is good....yr 24, day of year 122Wow!! Now I’m scared. In the FAQ on the recall it says power brakes will continue to operate as normal. Can you imagine your going down a grade hauling a heavy load when your engine seizes, trany goes into neutral and power brakes stop working.
Thanks so much. Hopefully I’ll be beyond the end date.from the underside, look up at the driver side cylinder head....24122 is the magic number....anything after that is good....yr 24, day of year 122

I've been crawling around under the truck and I can't find this sticker. Can anyone give me a better idea of where it is?
My truck had a catch-can, cold air intake, and cat-back exhaust when I brought it in for lifter failure. They didn't fight me on anything. The law is on your side for that, be prepared to quote the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act if needed. When they do finally roll out this recall/inspection should those of use using a catch-can remove it before bringing it in? I know a lot of 6.2 owners run a can, and I would hate for it to void some sort of warranty.
the most recent release, supposedly going to hit the dealers with VIN info is this...you will be tested for a CODE, and have the knock sensor tested for vibration signals...if that passes, you get the 0-40 oil and extended warranty (10yr/150K) from initial sale date and mileageI've been crawling around under the truck and I can't find this sticker. EDIT: Found it. 22034 is the build date. So looks like "proceed to step #2" (engine replacement) :-(
If this is the end result for trucks that had extended warranties purchased through the dealer, GM should refund the cost of those extended warranties, or minimally pro-rate refunds for the remaining time.FINALLY! The long awaited warranty extension document is here! Confirms the 10 year 150,000 mile warranty extension for effected vehicles.
At least one of the class actions is seeking compensation for these kinds of expenses buyers incurred. Also loss of value, vehicle etc.It would be nice, but I doubt it since my dealer sold me a non GM extended warranty. I purchased one to cover the length of the loan for 7 years and 100,000 miles.
