GM Finally recalling '21-24 6.2L V8's

I have the GM app and it says it is affected by the recall but won’t let me schedule service. Why I contacted the dealership who also ran the VIN but says they don’t have guidance from GM.

Left hand/Right hand or they aren’t being transparent which is highly possible.

Same thing my dealer told me!
 
Circling back to the 0W-40 requirements if your engine passes inspection. They mention the Mobil 1 Supercar oil, but I have been finding that many brick-and-mortar places don't have it on their shelves. And it's very pricey online. I am sure that is mostly due to supply and demand after this recall was announced, but also because it was previously only recommended for the high-end sports cars and the pocket books that typically come with those.

The biggest thing about that Supercar oil is that it is Dexos R approved. The normal 0W-20 just needed to be Dexos 1 Gen 3 approved. Well, there are no 0W-40 oils that are Dexos 1 Gen 3 approved, according to Dexos's website.

So I think the Dexos R approval is the biggest requirement. Thankfully, Mobil 1 has another series of 0W-40 that is Dexos R approved and appears to be on virtually everyone's shelves: Mobil 1 FS European Formula 0W-40. Much cheaper too! If and when I am officially told that I need to switch to 0W-40, this will be what I run until the Supercar formula becomes more obtainable.

So another expense associated with GM failure.

Read an online story related to class action that predicted an additional $4,500 of fuel expense, over the life time of the vehicle, associated with the oil change. Not sure how accurate that is.

I also didn’t buy it thinking it was the most cost effective vehicle but frustrating when we are losing value, availability, reliability and more expense based on decisions of the manufacture.

When they do finally roll out this recall/inspection should those of use using a catch-can remove it before bringing it in? I know a lot of 6.2 owners run a can, and I would hate for it to void some sort of warranty.

I wouldn’t give them any reason to void the warranty. I realize the law is probably on your side but winning that can be expensive.

I have the JLT and it only takes a few minutes to remove. The one time I took it in, I pulled it off. Bigger issue for me is I have a Croc Lock ECU lock that I need to remove!
 
Another L87 teardown that was verified to be in the date range of the recall motors.
