I'm confused. People here stating as fact that all engines produced before 2024 will be replaced, but this latest bulletin says it's VIN specific. Where are the ranges of applicable VINs published??
there is one notice that gives an EXAMPLE of HOW to read the engine build date...mine 23122.I'm confused. People here stating as fact that all engines produced before 2024 will be replaced, but this latest bulletin says it's VIN specific. Where are the ranges of applicable VINs published??
N252494002 states it's dependent on the engine build date. Strangely, 0-40w oil is no longer noted - back to 0-20w.I'm confused. At least two class action lawsuits have been filed. One out of Illinois and one out of Pennsylvania.the reverting back to 0W-20, will be with the later 24 and up NEW motors, those may have been designed to run on the 20 weight oil, as were the earlier models REALLY needed 5w30 as a minimum.
i have been told, GM or the supplier Mobil 1, very quickly realized they could not keep up with the supply quantity needed to replace all engines oil as the precaution if a code wasnt present.
until they pin down a date, VIN range....it is a hold game. i would be willing to bet, the dealers who are sitting on a 6.2 in inventory...will be the first to get a replacement if needed.
Thankfully that is not the case:you may be out of luck, i want to say that if you make it through the initial 60K/5yr....your on your own, unless it is mandated...which currently, it is voluntary
I would assume that if you took your truck in for this inspection and it fails GM won’t release the vehicle. So then it becomes how long until they get a replacement engine.Latest 000 bulletin that we've been waiting for. This details the inspection process if there's no P0016 code present or the engine isn't already already blown up.
There has been another update sent out since this one. It specifies engine build dates.Latest 000 bulletin that we've been waiting for. This details the inspection process if there's no P0016 code present or the engine isn't already already blown up.
That's the same 002 bulletin I posted a while ago. It's just on NHTSA's website now. There has been another update sent out since this one. It specifies engine build dates.
Mine blew up March 6, 2025. As of yesterday May 15, 2025 it’s still blown upI would assume that if you took your truck in for this inspection and it fails GM won’t release the vehicle. So then it becomes how long until they get a replacement engine.
