GM Finally recalling '21-24 6.2L V8's

I'm confused. People here stating as fact that all engines produced before 2024 will be replaced, but this latest bulletin says it's VIN specific. Where are the ranges of applicable VINs published??

What was done differently to the 6.2's that went into trucks built after 7-1-24? I guess that's when they started building the 25 year models?

there is one notice that gives an EXAMPLE of HOW to read the engine build date...mine 23122.

i highly doubt they just replace all, it will come down to the code, oil weight and roll the dice with longer warranties.

I had an appointment to have my truck inspected, but when I called the dealer they said to cancel there is no point. Told me that right now there is no remedy and I should wait for something in the mail. I said to him, so basically I either drive it until I get a letter, or until it blows up? His answer was, pretty much!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

the reverting back to 0W-20, will be with the later 24 and up NEW motors, those may have been designed to run on the 20 weight oil, as were the earlier models REALLY needed 5w30 as a minimum.

i have been told, GM or the supplier Mobil 1, very quickly realized they could not keep up with the supply quantity needed to replace all engines oil as the precaution if a code wasnt present.

until they pin down a date, VIN range....it is a hold game. i would be willing to bet, the dealers who are sitting on a 6.2 in inventory...will be the first to get a replacement if needed.

At least two class action lawsuits have been filed. One out of Illinois and one out of Pennsylvania.

you may be out of luck, i want to say that if you make it through the initial 60K/5yr....your on your own, unless it is mandated...which currently, it is voluntary
Thankfully that is not the case:

i have read that numerous times, but NOT one dealer i can find has confirmed that action...outside of a failed engine

Latest 000 bulletin that we've been waiting for. This details the inspection process if there's no P0016 code present or the engine isn't already already blown up.

I would assume that if you took your truck in for this inspection and it fails GM won’t release the vehicle. So then it becomes how long until they get a replacement engine.

Mine blew up March 6, 2025. As of yesterday May 15, 2025 it’s still blown up
