What's new

What did you do to your Trailboss today? 🛠️

AVS logo IS removable. It is stuck on. I removed the one from mine.

Readylift SST kit & bilstein 5100’s on all four corners. I’ll add pics soon, torrential downpour yesterday as soon as I finished.

I did a full 4” kit on my Jeep TJ when I had it, but this was the first kit I ever did on a truck. Easily top 2/3 most pain in the neck jobs I have ever done, and that includes swapping the transmission in my Camaro with a floor jack.

Hoping the non-squishy ride of the bilstiens are worth it.

Th Bilsteins are worth it, but you will still have some squishyness because of the springs.

As far as "pain in the neck" jobs go on these trucks, wait until you have to remove the transfer case. Using a lift and having all the access in the world to get under the vehicle, the top bolt of the transfer case was still a NIGHTMARE!!!

I’m definitely looking forward to your review of this setup. Did you set the 5100 adjustment rings to factory height up front and use the top and bottom spacers from the SST kit or are you getting some extra lift out of the shock also?

You're right, I let it sit in the sun and and stuck my finger under it and it peeled right off ... but check this out.... its also etched into the deflector under the part I took off. 🤦‍♂️.. Def looks better than it did though.

I’ll wait until I get some miles and an alignment before I give full judgement, but so far the quick trips to work and back have been an improvement. I know this won’t turn it into a McClaren overnight, but to not feel the ranchos bounce for miles after hitting a speed bump is worth it.

EDIT: also saw you asked about the settings on the shocks. I set them at factory height and added the full SST kit. I would think extra shock height + SST kit would probably put my stock CV joints at the margin.

Pics before I headed into work. I’ll measure later.

Yeah, it is etched but doesn't stand out like the stuck on logo does. Not sure why they couldn't just go with the etched in logo to begin with.

Loaded up and ready to leave California for Florida so the packers and loaders don't try to take stuff I don't want them having access to, such as freedom seed dispensers. July 1 can't get here fast enough.

HAHAHA Never heard em called that before! Congrats on getting away from the tyranny of CA.
California is so bad that,.... saying anything would be beating a dead horse. I don't want to turn this into a 2A political debate. There's a more appropriate forum for that. What has surprised me is just how many freedom seeds and dispensers I have. They literally took up the whole bed of the truck. Granted it's a short bed, and it has a Retrax tonneau, but it's more than I realized I had. I actually had to stick my 2 longest cases in the backseat because I ran out of room in the bed.

4 month update on my 6112s. Ride is still outstanding, couldn't be happier! So much better than stock shocks/springs. It did settle about a 1/2 inch. It was perfectly level at first, now about 1/2 lower in the front which is perfect to my eye. (On the highest setting) Forgive the ugly surroundings, I took this today as I was leaving the airport because the ground is flat so I could get an accurate pic.

High heat , matte black rattle can. I used some scotch brite to scuff them up first and then put about 5 coats on. Cost me $15 bucks and it's been on there for 8 months now without even the hint of flaking, cracking or peeling.
Had my exhaust tips and tow hooks powdercoated. Turned out perfectly
