What's new

What did you do to your Trailboss today? 🛠️

Catching up on projects done a while back. These are the Bed Lights that I installed. There are times when I move stuff in and out of the bed, at night, and with the tonneau in place. The stock lighting is not sufficient.
This is a LED lighting Kit that I bought at O'Reilly auto parts, for about $35. The 12V NiMH Battery set was about $12, and the switch was about $10, as well. It took a bit more effort than I thought in would, and several heat-shrink, waterproof, butt-splice connectors. But I really like how it works.

And, there is no wiring going from the bed to the cab. There is a Pigtail connector to make it easy to charge the batteries.

edit: Oh, and the whole idea of doing it this way was to have lights that are up out of the way so they don't get damaged when we dump a full load of firewood into the bed from a Skid Loader. This has already been tested.

The switch is at left, and the batteries are held by a metal bracket tucked in behind the equipment mount.

How hard is that bed mat to keep clean? I would imagine all the little fall-offs from firewood would take ages to get out...

Just run a shop vac over it and it cleans up easily. Or you can take it out and shake it out or wash it out too. May eventually just get the BedRug mat for mine since I have the factory spray in liner. Much nicer on the knees when crawling around vs the ribbed metal.

Definitely have an answer for you on that. Kind of a sore subject. Before I bought, I researched and read every review and took every precaution including buying a non marring socket and a really nice torque wrench and did each lug individually and slowly .. these are the ones I ordered and this is my review of them on Amazon. I'll be yanking them off and painting them properly.
That's what I was afraid of.

Bought a new tire and wheel to match the 35s I'm currently running and OE wheel so I can start doing a 5 tire rotation. I should've bought these sooner, but I figured the odds of something bad happening were very low. So far I've been fortunate. Looking into a TPMS sensor now. I'm about to reach the first 5,000 miles on my 35s, so the deadline was approaching to getting this done. I'm going to find out very soon if a 35 can fit in the factory spare tire location.

Please post if it fits or not.

Gave my Nitto Trail Grabbers to friend for free, ordered new Duratracs and bought a bunch of new off-road lighting! Hopefully all done next week. Then....... play time again!

I have a 285/65/20 spare. Not a lot of room but it fits.

I use a large Tarp so that none of the bits from firewood loads gets on the Bed Rug. And the rug is easy to vacuum clean.
A tarp is also used to cover the firewood load. This my fourth Chevy pickup to have a Bed Rug and Tonneau cover.

Thanks for sharing those pics. I've had to play with the shield in the past, so I know I have a few millimeters of wiggle room to play with if needed. A 285/65r20 is only about 1/2" smaller than a 285/75r18. At 1/4" on each side it looks like it'll be okay.

Added AMP Research power side steps, UPR catch can, Pulsar LT tuner, tinted front windows, AVS lighted hood protector, wireless phone charger, automatic fog lights turn on with parking lights, all lights on when high beams on mod, hard retractable tonneau cover, LED reverse and license plate bulbs.
After 2 years how are you're AMP steps holding up? Looking to add power steps myself.

1st oil change. Dexos D.

Wait wut? This stuff is green!?!

Then it was off for a little 800+mile trip.

My dad had a bed rug in his Chevy and it was amazing. We took 3 hunting trips out Wyoming and used his truck to haul field dressed deer and Antelope . You can imagine the mess, cleaned up like new. I'm going to be putting a bed rug in my rig too.
