What's new

What did you do to your Trailboss today? 🛠️

What does everyone do with their unused Goodyear Duratacs? I laugh every time I hear about the noise. I love these things off road. No issues at all off road. I'd go anywhere with them. Would I buy them again? Wouldn't discount them as an option i know that. I don't mind the road noise as it is a truck designed for off road. Not a daily driver to put highway miles on. Again, I laugh as to why it is such a big deal. LOL
I can explain the issue with them. It is weak sidewalls. This is my 5th 4wd vehicle. I have been off road in all types of terrain for many years. Up until the Duratracks I have never blown out a side wall because of a rock scrape. I have 18,000 mile on the TB, I'm sure at least 3,000 of them are off pavement. I have ripped open the Duratrack sidewalls FOUR times! It does not take much to do it, the hits were not even hard conditions, just rock scrapes. They are also weak on sidewall support. On a heavy rig like the TB I can only air down to 25 PSI. The sidewalls turn to mush below that and of course ground clearance quickly goes away. A strong off road tire can go well below that. I have road hazard on them so I am stuck in this loop of replacing the blowouts. It sucks to think about spending a ton of money to replace what should be good tires. I am not a Goodyear hater. I did not know they were trash until I had problems and looked into it. Bottom line is bad sidewalls. That's why so many people are complaining.

I actually don't mind the road noise. I was just hoping for something with just as good of off-road capabilities, but with better tread wear. If there is such a thing lol.
Here is your tire. The tread pattern is not as aggressive as true mud terrain like the Duratracks but they are super tough off road. I wore out 3 sets of them on previous rigs. They are fantastic off road tires and 50,000 mile guarantee. That's where I am headed.

Here is the mud terrain version

Thanks! When ready I will look at the KM3. It'll be $2600 for five tires! Oh well, you've never seen a U-Haul behind a hearse!

Took off the chrome z71 badges today, just have to get the goo gone off and install the matte ones. I can't believe how weak the tape is that they use to install them in the 1st place.

There is an eraser wheel you can buy for your drill from any hardware or home improvement store. 3M is a good brand. That makes removing the adhesive a breeze. But you have to operate the drill at a slow speed and don't hover in one spot, always keep it moving. You will have the adhesive completely removed in like 15 seconds. Then follow up with some rubbing alcohol to make sure it is all clean before putting on the new badges.

What would happen? I actually want to know😝
And why is diesel more expensive than gas? It never used to be.

Bam, my turn to beat the dead horse. I have to plastidip my rear emblems, as they are shiny black. It never ends.

Changed my oil for first time on this truck (21.5K miles)...judging from the sticker on window it was last done by a shop. The neighbor kids learned a few new words during this process...cause whoever did it tightend the living hell out the filter...yes made sure it had not melted on...it was not.

Do you know what the defect mileage warranty is on those? I thought about veering from the Duratrac's as well when the time comes. I thought about checking into whatever they are putting on the new ZR2's and Bison editions.
The tires come with a 50K warranty. They ride so nice and do a great job on wet roads as well.

The interior noise was just too much. Hard to carry on a discussion with the wife at speeds between 50-60... I watched the reviews on youtube and picked the MT Baja's. Do not regret it.
