What did you do to your Trailboss today? šŸ› ļø

Today I thought about trading my 2020 Silverado Trail Boss LT for a Canyon or Colorado. This thought is a daoly occurrence. Probably would've gone with a GMC. Don't get me wrong. I love my truck, and I like this forum I just don't see a need for the big size anymore. Only 2 things are stopping me from doing this (in no particular order): 1) I don't want to deal with my wife when it comes to finances. It's not worth the hassle. 2) I don't want to spend the time pulling my radios out of the truck.
I just bought a 2024 Silverado trail boss 1500 3.0 diesel short bed, two weeks ago and We test drove a Canyon and Colorado. While discussing each truck, my wife said what about the trail boss? We were trading her car in, so she wanted a truck. The chev 3.0 diesel 4X4 short bed Trail boss was definitely a better ride.
My wife picked the truck, not me! I told her I was not going to chose the ā€œwrong ā€œ truck, if she didn’t like it!!
You just identified all the reasons why you should keep your truck!
It’s more trouble than it worth!
Wife is always ā€œrightā€.
Love your truck!
Peace at home!

2 of the reasons I stay single 😁

Ordered my LT4 Badges for the hood just incase I decide to let people know. Engine swap is scheduled for the middle of February. Can't for the increased MPG off road!

I’m with you on that… I actually prefer the more nimble midsize trucks. I traded my 2018 Colorado ZR2 for the Trail Boss only because I have 4 kids. And now the new Canyons and Colorados are looking even better than ever. In the future I may switch back to a midsize but only if I get sick of the 6.2L and the music it makes. 🤣

I have the 6.2 too. I agree with you on that. My wife said it sounds like a Nascar race car when I put the throttle all the way down.

That's gonna be awesome. Why not the LT5?

Figured 650 HP is probably enough to go more vertical off road out in the mountains. We have a couple friends we have some pretty aggressive mountain trips planned with. I got hooked when we were out in Colorado and we had a winch in the front and rear receiver to get up some of the trails. Wife I know won't be going on trails like that again. Freaked out! It was on my side on the way down and no issues. Nothing but straight down in places if you didn't crawl and hug the mountain side of the trail. LOL

My wife would be fine with trails like that. She been thinking Wrangler or Bronco for her next car so she can go offroading, but I'm trying to sway her to 4Runner so her car is more practical but also still fun.

If 650 is all you need, why not just add a supercharger instead of doing an engine swap. Did you find an awesome deal on an engine?

My peace at home comes when my wife is deployed

Yeah, friend who builds cars wanted to get rid of it. Customer bought it and there was shady customer $h!t going on so he I got it for half price. Wasn't sure about bolting a 5-7K twin screw on my 40K motor with the lifter issue lurking about it seems.

Replace the lifters with the supercharger? Seems like a HUGE electrical nightmare to toss in a whole other motor not offered in the truck.

No matter which way you go it'll never be good enough. Next up you'll go with a smaller supercharger pulley, larger fuel injectors, custom tune. That's about $1,000 for 50+ hp. Then you'll want to more power and upgrade cams, valves, and the rest of the head. Port and polish the throttle body, bolt on headers, meth injection kit, ethanol tune. It's an addiction that never ends. I've been there and done that. 2 Saab transmissions and a full engine rebuild later I was done.

Just my opinion but unless you’re running mud dawg pits where hyper wheels spin is needed … our engine's do the task with reliability , yes who wouldn’t like more power I’ve added just some ā€œadd on’s ā€œ like exhaust , intake … and one day maybe a supercharger would be a worthy $12K investment … but my truck moves down the road just fine … but I do love the idea of more power …..don’t get old fellas šŸ˜•

My friend builds cars and not that big of deal from what we can tell with the computer. GM will work with us if needed. Its a 6.2 and I can design and machine anything. He is the OBC guru. Is it going to be done over a weekend? Probably not. I'm building this for off road purposes. Already have most of it built with billet parts. Already have and extra 30-40K into it. Want it perfect and the way I want it. So, what's a little more. I like the can't be done.

It can be done! I can design and machine anything and my brother is an OBC genius! Nothing is impossible. Worst case my original 5.3 will be out and I will rebuild the whole motor and slap on a twin screw! Was the original plan anyway more or less. Just have the opportunity to but in a GM factory built 6.2 with a little more power.
